It’s back to school season, and what better way to kick it off than with a super cute apple! 🍎



Kawaii Apple Pattern
Materials:
- Acrylic Yarn (i.e.: Red Heart)
- Red yarn
- Brown yarn
- Green yarn
- Black yarn (to embroider the eye & mouth)
- Pink felt (for blush)
- 8mm safety eyes (x1)
- Crochet hook, size 4.5mm
- Darning needle
- Stuffing
- Hot glue gun (for attaching the felt)
Abbreviations:
*Crochet terms are US terms
- MC = magic circle
- SC = single crochet
- HDC = half double crochet
- INC = increase
- DEC = decrease
- SS = slip stitch
- CH = chain
- * = repeat around
Apple
- Using red yarn…
- SC 8 in MC (8)
- INC * (16)
- SC 7, INC * (18)
- SC * (18)
- SC 8, INC * (20)
- SC * (20)
- SC 9, INC * (22)
- INC 2, SC 7, INC 4, SC 7, INC 2 (30)
- SC * (30)
- DEC * (15)
- Add one 8mm eye between Round 6 & Round 7
- Sew on the second eye & the mouth using black yarn
- Begin stuffing, and continue to stuff from here to the end
- DEC 7, SC 1 (8)
Finish off & leave a long tail to sew the hole closed
The yarn tail will also be used to “shape” the indent at the top of the apple
Using the yarn tail, sew the opening closed
Sew the yarn tail straight through the middle of the apple, pulling it through tight enough to form the “indent shape” at the top of the apple – weave it in to secure it in place



Leaf (x1)
- Using green yarn…
- CH 6, starting in the 2nd chain from the hook:
- SS 1, SC 1, HDC 1, SC 1, SS 1
- Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing

Stem
- Using brown yarn…
- Ch 4
- Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing

Assembly:
Now it’s time to assemble the pieces together!
- Sew the leaf to the top center of the apple
- Sew the stem to the top center of the apple using the tail on one side of the chain – weave in the tail on the other side of the stem through the chain and into the main apple body
- Cut out two small circles in pink felt, then attach them just under the eyes using hot glue
