It’s a little bumble bee, buzzing its way into your life ❤

There has been a huge surge of crochet bumble bees out in the world lately, and I finally decided to join the trend! While I am not a fan of real life bees buzzing by me, this crochet bee is welcome any time.


Bumble Bee Pattern

Materials:

  • Acrylic Yarn (i.e.: Red Heart)
    • Yellow yarn
    • Black yarn
    • Light blue (for the wings)
  • Pink felt (for blush)
  • 12mm safety eyes (x2)
  • Crochet hook, size 4.5mm
  • Darning needle
  • Stuffing
  • Hot glue gun (for attaching the felt)

Abbreviations:

*Crochet terms are US terms

  • MC = magic circle
  • SC = single crochet
  • INC = increase
  • DEC = decrease
  • SS = slip stitch
  • CH = chain
  • * = repeat around

Body

  • Using yellow yarn…
  1. SC 8 in MC (8)
  2. INC * (16)
  3. SC 1, INC * (24) 
  4. SC 2, INC * (32) 
  5. SC * (32)
  6. SC * (32)
  7. SC * (32) 
  8. In black…  *See how I do color changes here!
  9. SC * (32)
  10. SC * (32) 
  11. In yellow…
  12. SC *(32)
  13. SC *(32)
  14. In black…
  15. SC * (32)
  16. SC * (32)
  17. In yellow…
  18. SC * (32)
  19. SC * (32)
  20. SC * (32)
  21. SC 2, DEC * (24)
  22. SC 1, DEC * (16)
  23. Add 12mm eyes between rounds 3&4
  24. Sew on the mouth using black yarn
  25. Begin stuffing, and continue to stuff from here to the end
  26. DEC * (8)
  • Finish off, leave a short tail to weave in

Wings (x2)

  • Using light blue yarn…
  1. SC 8 in MC (8)
  2. SC 1, INC * (12)
  3. SC 2, INC * (16)
  4. SC * (16)
  5. SC * (16)
  6. SC 2, DEC * (12)
  7. SC 2, DEC * (9)
  8. SC 1, DEC * (6)
  • Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing

Assembly:

Now it’s time to assemble the pieces together!

  • Cut out two small circles in pink felt, then attach them just under the eyes using hot glue
  • Sew the wings to the sides of the body in between the two black stripes
